A group of crazy former military guys, framed and fired for something they didn’t do, form a mercenary group to clear their name!
So, most of us are aware that this movie is a remake of sorts, of a tv show that was popular when I was about three years old. Why the hell anyone would do such a thing, I simply cannot fathom, but on we go!
Liam Neeson stars the redoubtable Colonel Hannibal Smith, complete with the bad white haircut and the ever-present chewed cigar. He drops the Colonel’s favored line, “I love it when a plan comes together,” far too much, but then we have to have continuation yknow. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, a UFC major for those of you who know what that is, stars as B.A., quite possibly the most noteable character from the old show. Not because of the character per se, but because of who originally played him – Mr. T. Yes, the “I pity the fool” guy. Rampage does fine as far as acting goes, but the movie gods took the character of B.A. and made him into the now-stereotypical reformed black guy prisoner who finds non-violence as his answer, complete with the skullcap, for as long as it lasts. Which isn’t long, given that the A-Team just has to kick butt and blow stuff up! Bradley Cooper of The Hangover fame stars as Lieutenant “Faceman” Peck, he’s more or less the second in command as it was presented to me. And holy cow, Sharlto Copley of District 9 infamy, yes that insurance guy, lends his frantic and wonderful acting talents as the ever insane Murdock!
I’d like to tell you what the plot of the movie was about, but I’m honestly not sure, there was a whole lot of it anyway. Just a bunch of one-liners from the original show, famous faces from today’s entertainment industry, and a lot of explosions. Watching them use a tank as a parachute raft and turning it in midair by firing the silly thing was sure fun though!
