Frank Castle returns as the Punisher, the man of vengeance with a whole slew of bullets to back him up, to take on the scarred Jigsaw, his cannibalistic brother, the FBI hunting him and a cadre of bad guys!
This movie totally rules, it’s a serious shame it wasn’t anywhere near as popular as the film deserves. Ray Stevenson stars as the latest actor to don the skull and machine gun, and boy is he awesome. Stevenson manages the stoic Punisher reserve while still conveying the Castle regret, it comes across as clear as day. And the bad guys, Jigsaw and his brother Loony Bin Jim, played by Dominic West and Doug Hutchinson respectively, are some of the zaniest crazies I’ve seen in ages. A villain who’s smart, shrewd, and deductive, but still a cannibal and a martial arts student, rocks my world!
Punisher: War Zone is indeed completely over the top, right down to the red jelly filled eggshells for when Castle busts in a face, and the movie doesn’t take itself seriously one bit. Which, hey, is great by me! The story is a vigilante who has no mercy or pity, he wears a skull and punishes the corrupt, come on. Learn to cheer when the blood doesn’t hit the camera, but does shoot a good four feet in the air next to the camera when the Punisher shoots both your kneecaps!
The most explosive game of Kick-the-Can you’ll ever see!
