Jerry and Rachel are a pair of strangers thrown together in a fight for survival when a mysterious phone call threatens their families and lives, insisting on a series of life-threatening tasks while monitoring the both of them through everyday appliances.

It’s not actually what you might think, seeing the trailer for this movie. It’s not quite a terrorist organization, intent on taking out the president of the US, or some such overdone movie drivel. This movie actually has a fairly interesting twist in the plot, and rather than spoil it, I will simply say if you liked movies like Lawnmower Man, you’ll like this.

Shia LaBeouf, who’s been in way too many movies recently for my taste, actually gets a chance for some of his real acting talents to shine in Eagle Eye. Sure, he’s most often running around dodging bullets and being chased by everyone, but there are emotionally charged moments too. Michelle Monaghan, of Mission Impossible III fame, does a pretty good job as the other lead too. Any mother would be hard pressed to choose the world over the life of her own child, and Monaghan gives that threat a depth all its own.

Not a fantastic movie, but one worth adding to your DVD collection for those theme nights, and also available to stream on Netflix!
