Curse of Chucky was a great movie, in fact, much better than I thought it would be. I like horror movies that have plots, and it builds up suspense. Lately it has been very bland with all sorts of different horror movies. I stopped watching them because of the cheesie drama and plots.
Curse of Chucky is a sequel to the original franchise movies, the first three Childs Play films, not Bride of Chucky, and Seed Of Chucky. It has definitely been a wild ride for the series, and this one brings hope to light. Don Mancini wrote Curse of Chucky, which is why I think it was really good, he wrote all of them, but decided to follow the originals with this movie.
The plot goes like this. After the events of Seed of Chucky, Nica (Fiona Dourif), a young woman forced to a wheelchair since birth, has her sister, Barb (Danielle Bisutti) and her brother-in-law, Ian (Brennan Elliott) over to her house for a funeral after the death of her mother. While involving herself with Barb, Ian, along with their daughter, Alice; Nica a paraplegic (Fiona Dourif) receives an odd package. Once she opens the package, which contains the Good Guy doll that never actually is, the fun begins.
Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) starts killing everyone one by one, starting with Nica’s sister and you know how that eventually ends. The character development is pretty good, considering the fact that they brought back some people that were in the franchise before (Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, Brad Dourif). I hope that other movies, sequels, and reboots, follow the same directing, or writing as this movie.
Nica doesn’t want to sell the house that she had lived in. She wants to keep it because her sister had helped her throughout the years in her wheelchair. The place is designed with an elevator that helps her get up and down the floors of this eerie dark house. I definitely would not stay in the house now that I know one of my relatives was killed in it. The cursing doll is definitely back!
I think that I would like to see some movies make a come back, such as Freddy, or Jason. I think that the horror movies that have been coming out today have not been real horror, which is why I like this seque. I hope the studios follow the style of writing of these newer Chucky movies.
There is going to be a sequel, which I will watch and write and do a review on, called Cult of Chucky. I am looking forward to this especially if it follows true to Curse of Chucky. I hope that there are future movies after Cult of Chucky. Keep up the great work!
