Automata is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It is a science fiction movie about robots and their laws. It was designed similarly to the fashion of I, Robot. The story goes as solar storms hit the earth, and irradiates most of the planet. A company called ROC builds the robots to protect the earth and to rebuild protection for what is left of the human population.
This movie starts out as the character Jacq Vaucan (Antonio Banderas) is an insurance agent for ROC. Jacq is investigating an incident that happened and is there to prove that the robots are innocent, and they doing what they are programmed to do.
The science fiction in this movie is pretty amazing, and the concept and writing for it was decent. The movie was written by Gabe Ibanez, Ignor Legarreta, and Javier Sanchez Donate. Clocksmiths are someone who re-programs the robots illegally and Jacq believes that someone has been doing this for a while.
This movie, like most other movies makes you think and wonder what would happen if robots were really here to take over some certain human tasks. With the technology that is happening today, it looks like we are heading in that direction. I hope that there is a sequel to this movie, I know this was a limited release, and the budget was a decent $7 million.
Give this movie a try, I thought it was worth the time, and it has a good story line. The acting is good, and the CGI is pretty amazing. I think this movie would have got a better reputation if it was released more widely in the theater.
