Jane is always a bridesmaid and never a bride, putting aside her own happiness for others on their wedding day, and things go completely awry when her sister asks for help planning a wedding to the man Jane’s secretly in love with.
Jane’s (Katherine Heigl) a very very nice lady. Far too nice for her own good actually. She secretly loves her boss, and her sister just stole him and expects Jane to put on her wedding in 3 weeks. At one of the many weddings Jane organizes, she meets Kevin (James Marsden), a jaded newspaper reporter who is actually a writer for the weddings section that Jane very much admires. Of course nothing would do but for the two of them to instantly dislike each-other, or so they claim. Things continue on their merry way as Jane is overlooked everywhere, unless she forgets something for the wedding plans. Tess, Jane’s sister, gets given their mothers wedding dress for her big day, much to Jane’s dismay. And when Tess cuts up the dress to fit her and offers the few leftover pieces to Jane as a consolation, that is apparently the last flowery nosegay ground beneath uncaring dress shoes: Jane finally snaps.
It’s not much of a snap, as far as romantic comedies go, but rest assured, everything ends up at the end the way it should be. Of course we know that would never happen in real life, but its still fun to watch!
The 27 Bridesmaid dresses is a cute gimmick for a movie plot, and one most movie fans will happily laugh and cry with.
